5. Conclusions

[34]  The performed studies make is possible to conclude on the degree of the influence of a local irregularity at the waveguide wall on radio wave propagation. The main goal of this paper is to give to an experimenter a possibility to estimate the scale of the expected changes in the amplitude and phase of the attenuation function. The analysis of the presented graphs shows at what parameters the obtained variations of the field are significant and can be detected experimentally. The study of the dependence of the irregularity on the propagation path orientation relative the geomagnetic field, properties of the underlying surface, location of the irregularity and its geometrical dimensions is performed. The analysis of the presented figures demonstrates the existence of the field scattered, not only forward, but the backscatter, as well, obtained on the basis of the theoretical calculations, allows us to expect its experimental registration.
