6. Conclusions

[22]  1. In this paper we present a mathematically correct way of introducing the metric on a set of TV images. We apply this metric to investigate the temporal dynamics of aurora using the Grassberger-Procaccia algorithm, taking into account information concerning the spatial structure of the luminosity region.

[23]  2. A case study of typical pulsation aurora observed near midnight is considered using TV data from Lovozero station. It is shown that the dynamics of the whole area filled by auroral patches is characterized by a correlation dimension ~7.0. At the same time the dynamics of a separate patch is basically characterized by a correlation dimension ~2, which is typical for periodic modes.
