This server was established in the Fall 1995 and initially contained the database of five Russian geophysical
journals translated by AGU
(Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics,
Geomagnetism and Aeronomy,
Geotectonics,
Oceanology,
Physics of the Solid Earth). In late 1996 EPLab prepared the Proceedings of the Joint ICSU Press/UNESCO Expert Conference on Electronic Publishing in Science (http://eos.wdcb.ru/eps1/). Since the summer of 1997 this site included also ICSU Press Mirror Site which reflected the original site at http://associnst.ox.ac.uk/~icsuinfo/ (now disbanded, see ICSU disbanded committees) and two new on-line journals, International Journal of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IJGA) published by AGU in cooperation with GC RAS and experimental version of Geophysical Papers Online (Preprints) published by the Geophysical Center RAS.

Since the summer of 1998 this site includes new online electronic journal initially published in
Russian - Russian Journal of Earth Sciences (RJES).
This journal publishes original papers of Russian and foreign scientists
most interesting for the world science community. Since volume 3 RJES is published in English under the grant agreement
with the American Geophysical Union. In 2001 the full set of materials and Proceedings of the Second ICSU/UNESCO Conference on Electronic Publishing in Science (http://eos.wdcb.ru/eps2/) was prepared and published on this site on request of International Council for Science (ICSU)
