Abstract

Waters eutrophication is a complex process, characterized by the nutrients enrichment, and consequently, the algae number increase. To estimate the eutrophic status of the northeastern part of the Gulf of Taganrog of the Sea of Azov, a spatio-temporal geoecological assessment of the nutrients content in the water area, water temperature, salinity and eutrophic index was carried out. Maps of the water area were constructed, which clearly show the distributions of the investigated indicators. Studies were conducted for the northeastern part of the Gulf of Taganrog of the Sea of Azov during the vegetation period. The database was used for the period from 2002 to 2015. To define the eutrophic index of the Gulf of Taganrog northeastern part the regression model, based on the defined nitrate, ammonium, phosphate concentrations, water temperature and salinity, is constructed. The conducted researches showed that the eutrophication of the Gulf of Taganrog northeastern part depends on the salinity, water temperature, ammonium, nitrate and phosphate concentrations.
