Russian Journal of Earth Sciences is published by the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GC RAS) – the successor of the Interagency Geophysical Committee of the USSR Academy of Sciences, well-known among scientific community in Earth Sciences for publishing two serials, namely, Results of Researches on the International Geophysical Projects and Materials of the World Data Center B, which were published since 1957 up to 1992.
Since the middle of 90s and up to now experts of the GC RAS Publishing division took an active part in the organization of international conferences and the publication of their proceedings, including Proceedings of the First (1996) and the Second (2001) UNESCO/ICSU Press expert conferences on electronic publishing in science, and many others.
Currently, in addition to publishing Russian Journal of Earth Sciences GC RAS also publishes multimedia electronic journal Vestnik Otdelenia nauk o Zemle RAN (in Russian since 2009, ISSN 1819-6586), as well as the serial Geoinformatics Research Papers in Russian and/or English (ISSN 2308-5983).
GC RAS is the Member of the Publishers International Linking Association (PILA) and the PILA's main project Crossref since 2005.
