The main purpose of the Journal is to provide the scientific community with the most important scientific results obtained by the Russian scientists.

Papers submitted to the Journal are passed through standard peer-review process. Accepted papers are prepared in two versions: for online screen presentation (mostly in HTML format) and for print version in Postscript format. The online version of the Journal is primary. The total volume of print companion is approximately 550 pages (some online components are not included into the print companion).

Russian Journal of Earth Sciences is published in Russian since 1998 in online and print versions. Beginning with Volume 3, underway in 2001, the Journal is translated and published in English at http://www.agu.org/wps/rjes/ under the Agreement with the American Geophysical Union (See Message from the Editor for more detail). American Geophysical Union has a sole right for distribution of English version around the world.
